About the Executive Alliance
Thought leadership that drives real-world results.
The Health Systems Pharmacy Executive Alliance is a collaboration of well-known leaders who are dedicated to advancing hospital pharmacy's contributions to patient safety, clinical quality, and financial performance through established pharmacy best practices and increased effectiveness and efficiencies.

The Executive Alliance's vision is the advancement of the High Performance PharmacySM—a concept that enhances and elevates the profession of health system pharmacy, as well as its practice and standing, within health care today and in the future.

Active since 1998, the Executive Alliance maintains a strong and prestigious membership that has included ASHP past presidents and other pharmacy organization officers. McKesson is proud to sponsor this energetic group of healthcare education leaders and health system pharmacy experts. The Executive Alliance, as a body, operates independently from McKesson and takes responsibility for the public positions and publications it issues.

The Executive Alliance members include McKesson and non-McKesson customers and represent all parts of the health system continuum: from large, internationally known academic centers to smaller, community-based hospitals. All Executive Alliance members meet stringent criteria, including having published clinical articles relating to health system pharmacy best practices and held present or past leadership positions within health system pharmacy professional organizations. Members are highly respected among their peers.

In addition to the High Performance Pharmacy project, the Executive Alliance has created and published several healthcare education and health system pharmacy-related articles and resource guides, including:
  • "Recommended Practices in Support of 2004 JCAHO Medication Management Standards" (distributed at the December 2003 ASHP
    Mid-Year Clinical Meeting)

  • "Leadership Skills for a High Performance Pharmacy"
    (AJHP 2004; 61:2562—74).

"The High Performance Pharmacy approach is about never accepting the status quo. It's about continually looking at whether you have the right mix of people, processes, and technologies in place to provide patients with the highest quality care."
